The “Manufacturing Academy” initiative in Henderson involves local manufacturing companies collaborating with educators to provide insights into the skills and experiences needed for successful careers in manufacturing. Approximately 70 educators toured different manufacturing facilities in the county, gaining an understanding of what employers seek in prospective employees. Companies like Audubon Metals, Gibbs Die Casting, International Paper, and Pittsburg Tank and Tower Group participated in the program, offering administrators and educators an inside look at the skills in demand.
The initiative is a partnership between Henderson County Schools, established companies, and the Henderson Economic Development. In Henderson, around 4,600 people are employed in manufacturing, with an average annual salary of $68,593 per year for these workers.
